I am Andrea Cervantes, and I design with stories.
WHAT I DO
Designs for Small Retail Spaces
After two years of almost setting the chem lab of the University of the Philippines – Diliman on fire as an engineering student, I wisened up, shifted out, and graduated with honors from the UP College of Fine Arts with a BFA in Industrial Design. Away from more volatile, combustible materials, I spent most of my college years learning the design process and prototyping inventions, while playing with graphic design by coding and laying out Livejournal blogs and Multiply websites on the side.
My industrial design degree took me to strange places. I worked for very different industries – fashion, sales, technology, and manufacturing, to name a few – where I inadvertently learned more about and fell in love with graphic design.
Setting aside my reluctance and with a great leap of faith, I registered myself as a freelance design entrepreneur in 2016. Being a one woman team has been interesting, challeging, terrifying, and fulfilling, and I’ve been grateful ever since. I was meant to successfully solve problems through good design, and I enjoy doing it every day. (And, to everyone’s relief, I haven‘t set fire to any establishment… yet.)
